| SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON, written by Johann David Wyss, was originally published in Zurich in 1812. There were countless translations, abridgements and additions to the original manuscript in the years since. Jules Verne was so taken with the story in childhood that, in 1900, he wrote a sequel entitled SECONDE PATRIE, which was divided into two novels when translated into English, and published as THEIR ISLAND HOME and CASTAWAYS OF THE FLAG. |
