NANCY DREW® WHITE SPINE DUST JACKET EDITIONS

The earliest Nancy Drew dust jacket format was the "white spine" version sporting the classic artwork of Russell H. Tandy. Early editions were over an inch in thickness and featured four glossy interior illustrations. Later printings in this format added a blue silhoutte of Nancy on the the dust jacket spine. The first twenty-two titles were issued in the white spine format. In 1946, with the publication of volume #23, The Mystery of the Tolling Bell, Grosset & Dunlap switched to a new dust jacket version, known among collectors as the "Wrap Illustrated" format. These dust jackets featured cover art that "wraps around" and covers the spine. Selected Nancy Drew titles continued to be issued with the white spine dust jacket until the transition to the pictorial cover format in 1962. Books published with the white spine dust jackets featured a number of different endpaper formats. The first seven titles were originally issued with blank endpapers. Subsequent endpapers included the Orange Silhouette, Maroon "Dana Girls", Blue Silhouette, Blue Digger and the Blue Multi.

Note: The number listed in parentheses after the condition indicates the number of series titles listed on the front flap of the dust jacket. For example, a copy of volume #1, The Secret of the Old Clock, which lists to volume #12 is an earlier printing than a similar copy listing to volume #22.
