Thank you for visiting the Book Safari.

The Book Safari has been providing books to collectors for over 20 years. We specialize in vintage Children's Books dating from 1870 through 1990. Many of these books are very scarce and most are out of print. Unlike the large chain and online book stores, the books listed on the Book Safari web pages are all "one of a kind" items. To reserve a book, send an Email to BuyBooks@seriesbooks.com and list the book title, grade and price. A client representative will respond to you within a matter of hours to confirm availability of the book and will provide shipping and payment options. Satisfaction is guaranteed. All books are returnable within 10 days if you are not completely satisfied. References available upon request.

GRADING CODES FOR BOOKS AND DUST JACKETS:

Very Fine Condition - This is a term not traditionally used by book dealers. At the Book Safari, however, we grade conservatively and believe that there is a difference between "Fine" and "Very Fine" books and dust jackets. A "Very Fine" book and dust jacket is in pristine condition and appears to have just come off the press and never been read.

Fine Condition - Traditionally the highest level of condition used by book dealers. A "Fine" book or dust jacket shows no visible defects and shows very slight signs of aging or wear.

Very Good Condition - The most common acceptable grade for collectible books. A "Very Good" book or dust jacket shows minor wear but no major defects. Book bindings will be tight and sound, although a slight spine "tilt" or "lean" is acceptable. There may be minor chipping and/or short closed tears to dust jacket edges.

Good Condition - The lowest acceptable grade for collectible books. A "Good" book or dust jacket shows average wear and is noticeably worn but is complete. Books may have browned pages, more severe spine "tilt" or "lean", moisture stains, creased pages, fading or discoloration of boards. Dust jackets may show signs of fading, missing pieces, chips and closed tears to edges. "Good" condition books are great reading copies.

Fair Condition - Unacceptable grade for collectible books. A "Fair" book or dust jacket shows heavy wear but is complete. Books may have major defects which may include cracked hinges, missing endpapers, water or smoke damage, loose pages, brittle pages, fading, and discoloration of boards. Dust jackets will show major signs of abuse and may be fragmented and have missing pieces. "Fair" condition books are reading copies only.

Poor Condition - The lowest grade in the secondary book trade. A "Poor" book or dust jacket is heavily worn and features major defects. The book may have severely damaged binding, torn, loose or missing pages, cracked hinges, severe water damage or a pervasive mildew smell, Dust jackets are badly torn and damaged and may be in fragments. An overall unattractive copy but adequate for reading.

Note: At the Book Safari, the Grades refer to the condition of the dust jacket (if the book was originally issued with one). The book, unless otherwise indicated, equals or exceeds the condition of the dust jacket. For Picture Cover/Pictorial Cover editions or books without dust jackets the grade refers to the condition of the book . A listing with a number in ( ) indicates the highest series volume listed on the dust jacket flap or rear boards of pictorial cover editions. Some books may have inscriptions or the previous owner's name on the front endpapers.
